One time at band camp...
As young teens, me and two of my brothers set out on a very winter day (snowstorm in fact) to explore the wilderness around us. We came upon our favorite gravel pit and noticed the wind had created these huge snow drifts that came off the ridge above the pond. Donning our snowmobile suits we figured we could actually "dive" off the cliffs, perform a full gainer and land safely into the soft blanket of snow below.
Okay...important safety tip here! When diving off cliffs into snow banks, leave a "spotter" behind.
The 3 of us executed near perfect feats of olympic level high diving landing beautifully feet first only to find ourselves immersed in a tomb of snow up to our necks. We went in like boards with our arms at our sides and the snow was quite dense. Picture, if you will, a huge snow bank with 3 heads sticking out of it. Neither one of us could move. After about 15 minutes of us discussing how stupid it was for us all to go at the same time and another 30 minutes wiggling frantically, one of us manage to free himself and dig out the rest.
I guess technically we weren't "in over our heads" so nevermind. Carry on!
